Stewart Love here, checking to say that I am absolutely delighted to be joining the 5 Yard Rush family and contributing content to the website and podcast. I’ve been looking for the right opportunity to expand my work in the NFLUK community and when I was asked to join the 5 Yard Rush family it was a no brainer! I was absolutely thrilled to say yes and I can’t wait to share all my stories and news with you guys throughout the 2019 season and beyond. So where do I start? Well, it’s getting to that time in the off season where NFL network will start their top 100 player countdown (on July 22nd) and thus far you will have seen all over the internet that the NFL Network have teased us with some players that will make the list. As a Pittsburgh Steelers fan, I’m delighted to have seen running back James Conners name being mentioned, as he looks set to crack the NFL top 100 list for the 2019 season. With Le’veon Bell sitting out for the 2018 season, James Connor took over the mantle as running back for the Pittsburgh Steelers and let’s just say he didn’t disappoint at all! Connor, who has amassed 1,470 yards and 13 touchdowns in 13 games last season, cemented his place in the team as the premier running back for the Pittsburgh Steelers in 2018. Coming into the 2019 season, Connor isn’t taking anything for granted as fellow backs, Jaylen Samuels and rookie Benny Snell Jr., are looking to force their way into the squad which can only be healthy for the Steelers organisation having such talent fighting for a start at the running back position. I’m a huge huge fan of the NFL top 100 and it will be interesting to see who makes the list and who reaches the top 10. Will Tom Brady hit the no 1 spot again for the 4th time, after securing his 6th Super Bowl title against the Los Angeles Rams? Where will Antonio Brown land after the way he ended his season with the Pittsburgh Steelers? We’ve had some outstanding performance from QB’s such as Patrick Mahomes and Drew Brees, as well as comeback king Andrew Luck? For me he was my MVP for the way he came back and took the league by storm. Luck missed the entire 2017 season and didn’t even throw a ball for almost 18 months after receiving shoulder surgery following an accident whilst snowboarding in Colorado. What’s even more remarkable about Luck's comeback is he has battled back against a lacerated kidney and a tear in his labrum. For him to come back the way he did and finish 2nd to Patrick Mahomes with a stunning 39 touchdown passes and 4,593 yards, alongside a career-best 67.3 completion rate, is the reason I think he will make the top 10. This is also one of the reasons I believe the Colts will win the 2019/20 Super Bowl in Miami and be my MVP for that season. Yes folks, you can all quote me on this now and come at me hard at the end of the season (...if I’m wrong) but I believe the Colts are onto something special. Again, I’m delighted to be joining the 5 Yard Rush family and I hope you all enjoy the content I’ll give to the site and the podcast. Until next week!
